[Limited Edition] Authentic Hand-Woven Hunza "Diamond Eye" Doori Rug (2 x 3 ft)
SGD 150.00

Bring bold, symmetric Himalayan artistry into your home with this second exclusive, hand-woven Doori Rug (cotton flatweave). Hand-brought directly from the breathtaking landscapes of the Hunza Valley in northern Pakistan, this limited-edition piece features an expanded, intricate diamond focal pattern that instantly anchors any room.

This unique textile was meticulously hand-loomed by exceptionally talented differently-abled and special needs artisans at the KADO (Karakoram Area Development Organization) Rehabilitation Centre in Hunza. By purchasing this piece, you are directly celebrating and supporting an inclusive social enterprise that transforms vulnerabilities into creative strengths, helping these remote artisans gain self-reliance, purpose, and pride.

Specifications

  • Dimensions: 2 x 3 feet: approximately 60 cm x 90 cm.

  • Material: 100% hand-loomed natural cotton yarns, giving it a crisp, premium texture that feels great underfoot.

The Heritage Design & Craft

  • Concentric Eye-of-the-Mountain Motif: This design features an expanded, concentric diamond center flanked by sharp zig-zag borders. This traditional layout represents the deep valleys and protective peaks of the towering Karakoram range.

  • Masterful Pit-Loom Weaving: Every color shift and geometric line is created manually by artisan hands, thread by thread. The blind and intellectually disabled artisans at KADO use incredibly sensitive touch and trained coordination to weave with precision, meaning you will own a truly miraculous, one-of-a-kind work of art.

Care & Maintenance Guide (Singapore Climate)

  • Routine Cleaning: Shake out the rug outdoors to dislodge loose dust. Vacuum gently on low-suction without using a high-powered rotating roller brush to keep the fringe threads perfect.

  • Spills: Blot immediately with a clean, dry white cloth. Spot clean gently using cold water and a drop of mild, fabric-safe liquid detergent if needed. Never scrub harshly.

  • Washing: Hand wash cold separately only when absolutely necessary. Line-dry flat in a shaded, well-ventilated space. Keep out of harsh direct sunlight to keep the colors sharp.

[Limited Edition] Authentic Hand-Woven Hunza Sharma Rug (2 x 3 ft)
SGD 250.00

Bring the raw, timeless beauty of the Karakoram mountains into your home with this authentic, hand-woven Sharma Rug. Deeply rooted in the ancient heritage of the Hunza Valley in northern Pakistan, each Sharma is a masterpiece of artisan resilience and traditional craftsmanship.

This unique textile carries a deeply meaningful story: it was meticulously hand-sorted, hand-spun, and hand-loomed by exceptionally talented differently-abled and special needs artisans at the KADO (Karakoram Area Development Organization) Rehabilitation Centre in Hunza. By purchasing this piece, you are directly supporting an inclusive social enterprise that transforms vulnerabilities into creative strengths, helping these remote artisans gain self-reliance, purpose, and pride.

Specifications

  • Dimensions: 2 x 3 feet - converted for local Singaporean homes to approximately 60 cm x 90 cm.

The Heritage Craft

Every single rug is entirely handmade through a painstaking, highly detailed multi-step process. The raw material is meticulously collected, washed, dried, and hand-sorted. It is then spun by master craftsmen into a thick, ultra-durable yarn known locally as Talow in the Burushaski language before being mounted to a traditional loom for flat-weaving.

Natural Aesthetic & Unmatched Durability

  • Premium Natural Material: Woven using a durable blend of coarse animal fiber: including locally sourced sheep wool and authentic, resilient hair.

  • Undyed Earth Tones: The striking, minimalist striped design is achieved entirely through the natural, undyed coats of the livestock, showcasing organic shades of black, deep brown, and off-white.

  • Rare Varieties: Our dark brown and charcoal black stripes are highly coveted, as finding naturally dark-haired local animals has become exceptionally rare in the mountains.

  • Uncompromising Longevity: Celebrated globally for their incredible weight and heavy-duty durability, these rugs resist wear, repel dirt, and retain their character over decades of high-traffic use.

Care & Maintenance Guide (Singapore Climate)

Because this rug is crafted from authentic, untreated raw wool and hair, it is naturally resilient and easy to care for, even in tropical climates.

  • Routine Cleaning: Vacuum regularly on a low-suction setting without a rotating brush attachment, or simply shake the rug outside to remove loose dust and debris.

  • Dealing with Humidity: Raw animal fibers naturally breathe and repel moisture, but it loves fresh air. Every few months, give it a quick airing out in a shaded, well-ventilated space out of direct, intense sunlight.

  • Spills and Spot Cleaning: Act fast! Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry white cloth. If a stain persists, spot-clean gently using lukewarm water and a drop of mild, wool-safe detergent. Never scrub or rub aggressively.

  • Washing: Avoid machine washing or dry cleaning with harsh chemicals. If a deep clean is ever needed after years of use, professional hand-washing by a natural-fiber rug specialist is recommended.

Care Guide (Singapore Climate)

  • Routine Cleaning: Lightly dust or use a soft-bristle brush to remove lint. Do not use high-powered vacuum attachments directly on the hand-embroidery.

  • Spot Cleaning: If a spill occurs, blot immediately with a clean, dry cloth. Spot clean gently using cold water and a mild fabric soap only on the affected area. Do not scrub or wring.

  • Washing: To fully preserve the fine hand-embroidery and the texture of the velvet, professional dry cleaning is highly recommended. Keep away from harsh, direct tropical sunlight to maintain the deep emerald and crimson brilliance.
